Jacob Lawrence
Jacob Lawrence was an artist, professor, and activist.
Jacob Lawrence created works inspired by the colors, sights, and sounds of Harlem. His style which he called “Dynamic Cubism” took everyday life and painted in an energetic colorful light. His most well-known work is a series of paintings titled “The Migration”. This series was inspired by his own families and many other black families’ journeys from the south into northern U.S cities.
